But what exactly is iTOP? These four letters may not mean much at first, but they hold great value.
iTOP stands for Individually Trained Oral Prophylaxis, meaning personalized oral care guidance. Every patient participating in this training receives step-by-step, tailored instructions for at-home oral care, specifically adapted to their individual needs and dental condition. During the training, we use the “touch to teach” method, a technique our dental hygienists have mastered through internationally recognized iTOP training programs.
As mentioned earlier, we work with the “touch to teach” technique. This means that using your own oral care tools (which we encourage you to bring to the session), we will teach and thoroughly practice effective tooth brushing and interdental cleaning techniques. If you do not have the necessary tools or need additional ones, we will provide them for you.
Before attending the training, we highly recommend scheduling a professional oral hygiene treatment to ensure that you practice the techniques on tartar-free surfaces.
