During root canal treatment with a microscope:

  • The internal anatomy of the tooth can be seen at a magnification of 10-25 times.
  • even the hairline cracks on the tooth, which are not visible to the naked eye, become discoverable.
  • the intervention can be minimally invasive, which means that the least amount of intact tooth material has to be removed during the treatment, thereby reducing the risk of the tooth breaking later.
  • root canals that are not visible to the naked eye can be treated or root canals with a different shape
  • than the traditional ones can also be perfectly cleaned.
  • old, poorly functioning root fillings can be completely removed.
  • with the use of a microscope, there is a greater chance of removing instruments that have broken into the root canal.

Even the most experienced dentist cannot detect with the naked eye those small pieces of tissue or other substances hiding in the dental canals that can cause inflammation. Moreover, sometimes the cavity system of the dental canal itself is of such an extreme size or shape that it cannot even be fully examined without a microscope.

With a microscopic examination, it is possible to immediately find out where and how to prepare the dental canal, and after that the complaints will probably not appear again.

Complicated root canals are performed in our office with a special dental operating microscope. In this way, even those root canals that are invisible to the naked eye become visible and manageable. Our doctors are able to perform successful interventions even in cases that are difficult to solve, where general dental practice would already fail.

Microscopic root canal treatment is one of the most precise interventions. It is more time-consuming than a traditional root treatment, one session can take up to 1-1.5 hours. However, it is important to know that a top-quality root canal as a final result is more important than anything else. By saving the tooth, we can simultaneously prevent the development of later inflammations, or complications of focal diseases. With traditional methods, it may happen that, in complicated cases, the medicine has to be changed 6-7 times in each root canal, with a microscope, 2-3 treatments are usually sufficient.
